Elmer Lewis Brey was one of 39 area residents that became Charter Members of the Dundee Township Lions Club on March 15,1937, when this club was established.
Harry Jacobs was the Dundee Township Lions Club Charter Secretary and Treasurer when the Club was formed by Joseph Estes in 1937. He continued in this role through the 1937-1938 year and then went on to serve as President in 1941-42. He served our Club for 35 years and passed away in 1974, aged 78.
Tonight we honor the longest serving member of Dundee Township Lions Club, Lion Art Kruger! Art is a Melvin Jones fellow who has served our Club in many different ways over the years, giving selflessly to others and never seeking the spotlight.
Every year around Christmas time, we remember a very special member of the Dundee Township Lions, Lion Ron Rhoades. We do so, because in 2013, the Dundee Lions Club decided to honor Ron Rhoades by permanently adding his name to the annual Festival of Trees Event.
Richard Robertson is the longest living, serving Lion in The Dundee Township Lions Club. He has been an active and dedicated Lion for 41 years (as of 2023) and still counting.
Fred “Freddie” Schuttie, was born in Romania on September 12, 1927. He emigrated to the United States at an early age. Evidently he had settled in Dundee by the age of 25.
Prior to Terry joining the Lions, he had acquired a lot of skill in management working for a large company, Fel-Pro, which is a company that has over 55,000 employees today. Terry was in Upper management for this corporation and retired in 2009.
Mike was born in 1952 in East Dundee, is married to Ginny and they still live on South Street in West Dundee today. Daughter Liz, her husband Josh, and grandchildren Emily and Molly can often be seen helping at Lions fundraisers. Mike was employed at Clyde’s Donuts in 1999 and stayed there until retirement where he became an ambassador for the company.
