Although the year has brought much sadness, and loss we hope we all have found a new resolve to make things better for the coming year. Happy New Year from the Lions. We look forward to when we can again meet in person, have fun and continue to raise money for those in need.
A BIG LOSS TO THE LIONS AND THE COMMUNITY
Thus past weekend, The Dundee Twp. Lions lost one of their great members – Lion Herb Beck. He had been a very active member for 28 years and served several terms as president and vice-president.He was one of those individuals who LOVED being a Lion. He followed very closely our “motto” ~ “We have fun – we raise money – and we give it away!” He had fun – there was always a warm smile…. a laugh – and a twinkle in his eye…..and he loved making sure we could help as many community organizations as possible! With his accounting background, he could always be found in control of the cash box at our fund raisers, doing the money handling responsibilities, keeping ticket sales straight, and keeping track of the cash receipts. He was also our unofficial “chaplain”, always ready with a short pre-dinner prayer at our meetings…..ALWAYS ending with a brief, but heart felt ending – “and God bless our troops, wherever they may be!” The other long standing tradition he had was to “call for a motion to adjourn” at our dinner meetings. If he was present…..he always made that motion……And so, one last time ~ “Motion to Adjourn Lion Herb”.Meeting adjourned. Rest in God’s loving arms Lion Herb. You have been a good and faithful servant…..a good and faithful Lion. You will be missed by all who knew you, and whose lives you touched.
With regret the Dundee Lions have decided to cancel the Ron Rhoades Festival of Trees for this year. With all the concerns and uncertainties about the pandemic we feel it would be impossible to have a safe, fun filled event we usually have. We will look forward to having this event next year. Have a safe holiday season.
